JOB TITLE: Reporter (Morning Shift – WakeUp News)
FOX6 Milwaukee is looking for a powerhouse Morning Reporter to join our WakeUp News team! We don’t just recap yesterday’s news – we set the pace for the day ahead. We’re are looking for an innovative journalist skilled at finding enterprise stories who can pivot from a heavy breaking news scene to an engaging, high-energy live shot without missing a beat. RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Morning Execution: Serve as a key contributor to our WakeUp newscasts, delivering urgent, engaging live reports that help our viewers start their day
• Aggressive Reporting: Develop sources and break stories, finding new ways to reach audiences across all platforms. You must demonstrate an ability to aggressively pursue relevant news and exclusive content
• Digital First: Prioritize digital and social media content to engage early-morning audiences on the go
• Live Skills: Showcase strong LIVE reporting skills and the ability to communicate complex stories in creative, digestible ways
• Collaboration: Work cohesively with streaming, digital and linear producers, photojournalists, editors and news managers
• Team Player: We want the type of person who strives to lead the broadcast and break the mold every morning, while always prioritizing team interest over self-interest
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience: Bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related fiend with a minimum of 2 years’ reporting experience in a commercial television news operation
• Vision: A passion for storytelling and a consistent track record of bringing “big ideas” to editorial meetings with a vision for TV, digital, and streaming delivery
• On-Air Presence: Strong on-air skills both in the field and in studio, with a proven ability to ad-lib and handle breaking news situations with ease
• Technical Proficiency: Newsroom computer and related software skills
• Drive: A relentless pursuit of excellence and a commitment to the “morning grind” with passion and determination

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $70,000.00-75,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
